So after deciding to stay off the road and write new songs, it seemed we were spending more time at our other jobs and less writing new songs. While working for Ligosa Sound Studios I decided to open a small demo studio 3 doors down from Ligosa in Longworth Hall in Cincinnati. It was just big enough for a small 8-track cassette recorder and my midi gear. I could get two other people in the room and that was just enough room to do what we needed to do.

As time rolled by our manager started spending all his time with a new girl group named "Chicks", and they didn't get most of the attention, they got all of it. So as spring of 1992 blasted in I quit working a Ligosa Sound and started rehearsing for my second year in a local cover band called "Jam Factor" but this time I talked Jeff Ruby, the owner of the club and our boss to hire Eliot as one of the singers and keyboard player in the band.

By this time I had started working with Matt Senatore in my studio recording and programming midi tracks for his demos to satisfy his publishing deal. Matt by the way was signed to East West Records and had just finished his full length cd with producer Prince B of PM Dawn, a close friend of his from New York. In his cd they used a lot of drum loops and samples like a rap record but mixed it with acoustic guitar and rich lush vocal lines and stacked background vocals that gave him a real unique sound. Since I engineered some of Matt's cd I learned how to time samples and get the feel he was looking for in his demos. So after starting a few of his songs I told him about Eliot and thought we should get together and write a few songs together to see what happens using new production ideas that he and Prince B used on his cd. That was the beginning of what was to become Blessid Union Of Souls.

Check back for chapter 4 and see what happens next. It gets real exciting for Eliot and I.
