Chapter 1

My name is Jeff Pence and I started what became Blessid Union Of Souls. From the beginning I had a band traveling up and down the East Coast called Slamm. I hired Eliot Sloan to be the keyboard player and sing about 30 percent of the songs that the band was covering. After traveling another year and a half with Eliot in the band the two of us started writing originals. While back in Cincinnati being home for a few weeks we took a little time off the road to record a demo at Audio Craft, a studio in Cincinnati where a friend of mine, Jeff Higgins was the Engineer. After it was completed it was back out on the road for another 6 months.

On one of the trips back home Jeff Higgins informed me that he had given our demo tape to a manager in Cincinnati that had just move back there from New York, after a career of over ten years in the music business. His name was Mark Liggett and he had a partner Chris Barbosa. They ran a studio and production company in Longworth Hall in Cincinnati Ohio and also had an office in New York. Jeff Higgins had done some engineering for them when their engineer Jerry Lane was out from being sick. Mark liked one of the songs on the demo and let Jeff know he wanted to contact us about working with us. So I went to their studio about 5 times and kept getting the door shut in my face because they were busy recording George Lamond, a Latin Hip Hop artist at the time on Sony Records. Finally they let me in the door and we discussed them possibly producing my band Slamm. After finding out Eliot and I wrote the songs they liked, they were more interested in working with the two of us since they liked our songwriting than the band. So at that point Eliot and I left the traveling behind to concentrate on writing and recording songs in the studio.

There is a lot more to this story so check back later and catch chapter 2!
